How to build a Reddit Subreddit Checker

Community and brand teams run a quiet subreddit check before seeding or monitoring: recent scores, comment volume, and cadence. It is the first filter before a full listening dashboard.

Socify endpoints used

This screen is a thin layer over public Socify lookups: same paths you call with your own key.

~2 credits per full run.

Logic behind the screen

pulse = avg(score) + avg(comments)

Average score and comment count across a hot/new page is a fast heat signal. Brand teams use it to decide whether a subreddit is active enough for seeding or monitoring spend.

  1. Sample the subreddit

    GET /api/v1/reddit/posts?name=…&sort=hot returns a page of public posts with score and num_comments.

  2. Aggregate heat

    Average score and comments across the sample. High averages + dense titles usually mean the community is active enough for brand listening.

  3. Emit the checker card

    Return post_count, avg_score, avg_comments, and a top title. Same first-pass shape used before spinning up a full Reddit listening project.
