How to build a TikTok Engagement Rate Calculator

Agencies and creator marketplaces score TikTok talent before a collab. Pull follower count, sample recent video likes and comments, and return average and median engagement rates: the same machinery brands run internally.

This screen is a thin layer over public Socify lookups: same paths you call with your own key.

~2 credits per full run.

Logic behind the screen

per_post_rate = (likes + comments) ÷ followers × 100

For each recent public video with visible counts, likes come from statistics.digg_count and comments from statistics.comment_count. Core metrics are the average and median of those per-post rates across up to 6 videos from /tiktok/posts. A healthy consumer creator often lands between ~1–5% depending on niche and follower size.

  1. Resolve the profile

    GET /api/v1/tiktok/user?username=… returns stats.followerCount, verification, and whether the account is private. That follower denominator is the base of every per-post rate.

  2. Sample recent posts

    GET /api/v1/tiktok/posts?username=…&depth=1 returns a page of recent videos. On each video with visible counts we read digg_count and comment_count: enough signal for a pre-collab screen without paging the whole feed.

  3. Score and gate

    per_post_rate = (likes + comments) ÷ followers × 100. We report the average and median of those rates. The demo also surfaces a simple ok_to_collab flag (public, ≥1k followers, ≥1% rate): the same kind of heuristic creator CRMs apply before a human reviews the brief.
